Disneyland Bookings

Everything travelers need to know!

Tokyo Disney Parks:

The Tokyo Disney parks are easily among the most popular theme parks in Japan (no surprise). They are located just outside of Tokyo, taking roughly 25 minutes from Tokyo station to get too – it may take you more or less time depending on where you are travelling from.

The resorts include:

  • Tokyo Disneyland (a classic Disney park)
  • Tokyo DisneySea (water themed and unique to Japan)

Ticket to one does not allow entry to the other (to access both you must purchase two separate park tickets), and tickets must be purchased in advance as they are not always available at the gate. This guide will explain how you can book your tickets as well as provide you with useful information about both parks.

Which Park is Best For You?:

If you can only visit one and are struggling to decide, we cover some of the main differences between DisneySea and Disneyland below for you.

Tokyo Disneyland:

  • Classic Disney park similar to those you will find in the USA and in France.
  • Featuring attractions like the Disney castle, parades and plenty of family friendly rides.

Disneyland is best for families with younger children – particularly as the rides in Tokyo are really aimed at the younger demographic – as well as fans of classic Disney characters and attractions.

Tokyo DisneySea:

  • Unique to Japan, which in itself is probably a large selling point.
  • Themes around oceans, travel and exploration.
  • Decorations are more detailed when compared to Disneyland and they also provide more immersive areas.

DisneySea is best for Adults and older demographics. It offers more unique rides and experiences and those who have already experienced the classic Disneyland experience will likely prefer this unique offering.

Where to Buy Tokyo Disneyland/Sea Tickets?:

There are several official ways to buy tickets:

Official Website/App

This is arguably the most reliable option. Direct link: https://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/ticket/purchase.html

  • Full availability shown.
  • Direct digital tickets with no need to third parties.
  • Enables linking with app making entry and rides more seamless.

Official Partners

Some third party travel platforms also sell tickets with varying availability. That said, we would always recommend going through the official website/app as it will always be the safest option.

Types of Tickets:

There’s a few types of ticket available for visitors to chose from:

1-Day Passport

  • Valid for one park (either Disneyland or DisneySea).
  • Grants access for the whole day.

Fixed Date & Time Tickets

  • Early evening passports allow guests to enjoy the selected park from 3:00pm on weekends and holidays.
  • Weeknight passports allow guests to enjoy the selected park from 5:00pm on weekdays (excluding holidays).

There also a ticket specific for guests who reside in the greater Tokyo area which is therefore not applicable for tourists. But if you happen to fall into that category, click here and scroll to the ‘Shuto-ken Weekday Passport’ to find out more.

When Do Tickets Go On Sale?:

Guests can typically purchase tickets up to 2 months in advance.

Popular dates can sell out very quickly, so be sure to book early to avoid disapointment.

  • Valid for one park (either Disneyland or DisneySea).
  • Grants access for the whole day.

How to Book Tokyo Disneyland/Sea tickets (Step-by-Step):

Step 1: Visit the official Website or App

Direct link: https://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/ticket/index.html

Step 2: Select Ticket Type

Choose the ticket type that is most appropriate for you. Then proceed to click ‘purchase online now’.

Step 3: Select Number of Days and Persons

Ensure to select the correct number of persons who will be attending as part of your booking, as well as the number of days you would like tickets for.

Step 4: Select Your Desired Park

Choose between either Disneyland or DisneySea. If you wish to visit both, you will need to repeat the process for the one you did not select the first time (we will update the website if and when they provide tickets for multi park access).

Step 5: Select The Date

After selecting the park, you will be provided with a calendar to select your desired date. It allows you to select dates roughly 2 months in advance.

Step 6: Log In/Register

If you do not already have an existing account, you will need to create one to be able to purchase your ticket(s). If you have an existing account, simply log in. Once this is done you will be able to finalize your ticket choice once more – 1-day passport, weeknight passport etc. You will then be asked to confirm some terms and conditions and once you have done so, you will be able to add to cart.

Step 7: Payment and Confirmation

Pay using a credit/debit card. If using the app you will also be able to use apple pay. Occasionally people struggle with one of the options, but typically the alternative works.

Once you have purchased, you will receive a digital ticket (QR code). We would recommend screenshotting it and confirming your access via the official app.

How to Use Your Tickets:

On the day(s) of your visit:

  • Scan your QR code at the entrance.
  • Ensure your pass is linked to the official app – allowing you to navigate the park, check wait times, and access ride passes.

As a quick tip, we printed out our QR codes. This saved us relying on our phones which we personally appreciate.

Is Tokyo Disneyland/Sea Worth Visiting?:

Here’s our honest unfiltered opinion, as Disney fans:

To begin, we visited Disneyland in early June and it just so happened (unfortunately) that it rained heavily all day. This as you would expect, drastically changed the experience and thus we would strongly recommend monitoring weather predictions and avoiding going on a rainy day.

The parks are extremely well maintained (as you would expect in Japan) and the service is excellent. The atmosphere could have been better but due to the heavy rain, this is to be expected.

Disneyland was VERY child focused and whilst there is nothing wrong about that, for couples or adult visitors it becomes noticeable fast. Dare I say, even a little boring.

DisneySea on the other hand, is much more adult friendly. We recommend baring that in mind depending on what you need. DisneySea is also unique to Japan and is widely considered to be among the best Disney parks in the world. On a sunny day we imagine it to be an incredible experience.

We would not visit Disneyland again, but DisneySea, absolutely. Preferably on a warm sunny day!

Top Tips:

On the day(s) of your visit:

  • Book as early as possible, especially for weekends. Tickets go on sale 2 months in advance.
  • If you want to visit both parks, we recommend booking one for the morning and one for the evenings of the same day. This allows you to experience the park at night including the fireworks display!
  • Use the official app to improve your experience at the park.
  • Print out the QR code for the tickets as a backup.
  • If your preferred date is unavailable, keep checking regularly as availability can change.
